The club currently has two quartets, Topaz and Allegro, both dedicated to the one word - Entertainment!

Mary-Anne Wright (tenor), Mary Priddle (lead), Maggie Ellis-Press (bass) and Val Crowley (baritone) have now formed the New Topaz. They have been working hard to put together a repertoire of songs old and new to entertain audiences. They have a vast amount of experience within the quartet as Val and Mary have been singing barbershop for over 20 years and Maggie was a founder member of the Velvetones. Topaz the gemstone has a mystical power to balance the emotions and calm passions, it also is known to release tension, giving a feeling of joy; which Topaz the quartet is hoping to emulate. -

As per the musical term 'Allegro', the quartet also likes to be 'bright, cheerful and lively' as their repertoire demonstrates. We have recently recruited Sandy Ibbetson as our bass who melliflulous tone of voice blends beautifully with the three original ladies - Eileen Clark (tenor), Elizabeth Rainey (baritone) and Jan Ryder (lead). The quartet continues to go from strength to strength, has a strong following and love to ring those chords and perform at all types of functions.
