The Velvetones launched their very own cookbook in which recipes have been submitted by members and co-ordinated into a beautiful cookbook by June Brady and Tracey Jacques. They are available from any member listed in the contacts list at a cost of 7 euros. Also available are Velvetones aprons in Red or White, also at a cost of 7 euros.

Lilly has decided to "retire" from singing with the Velvetones after being a member of the club for over 10 years. She was an extremely good member of the bass section and will be greatly missed, but the good news is that she is staying on as a Social member and we will still see her on a regular basis. At a fundraising event an idea was born when Annie, Maureen and Margaret, three gifted "VELVETONES" with nimble fingers, plus three other friends hit upon a splended notion of making individual patchwork quilts for the children and nuns of the Preventorio Nuns Orphanage in Gandia. The "VELVETONES" soon rallied to beg, borrow and steal fabric, curtains, bedding, etc., to help with the task in hand. This is how "The Perla Quilters" evolved and they have just completed an amazing 60 quilts!! Annie calls them "Hugs that won't wash out" which has been translated onto labels as "Abrazos ????" with a space for the nuns to add each child's name. So, if you think the "VELVETONES" only sing..... then think again. Most work is for charity as they love to add something back to their communities and helping the Gandia children is certainly a worthy cause.
