A typical rehearsal would run a bit like this.....

We start off with a few vocal and physical warm up exercises  - this would include scales, humming, and the like - to get the old larynx going and to shrug off the effects of any misbehaving we might have indulged in since we last got together.

Then we might sing two or three short songs to continue warming up the voices.

We then maybe get working on a new song or two, or perhaps sing repertoire songs ready for a forthcoming concert (it is traditional in barbershop to call a concert a 'singout').
